Plan B

You may have noticed that I did not get to post a photo yesterday! My giveaway kind of took center stage for obvious reasons! Forgive me! :)

I had initially planned to post a photo here everyday. It seemed like a great idea for both of us! I would be sure to "shoot" photos daily, (not always easy with a hectic schedule!), and you would get to see them.

After only 17 days, I realized along the way that this was not really going to work as I had hoped, (for various reasons) and that a "Plan B" would be necessary!

While I will post photos as often as possible, I want to be able to share other things with you as well!

As an "Etsian", I spend so much time listing, editing, processing, renewing, etc., etc. etc., that very little time has been left lately to actually do what I do......painting & photography!

So, I have decided to take a little mini "working" vacation! Time to "play" with my new Nikon that I have barely had a chance to even pick up!!! Some quality time at the drawing/painting board, before I completely lose my sanity :), (any artist will understand this part!). Hopefully this will be good for me & my wonderful followers here, on Etsy & facebook!

So, knowing me, I will probably still post on Etsy, facebook, & here in between moments away "playing" with my camera & paints! I am already working on some new things that I am really looking forward to sharing with you! You might hardly even notice my little "break" (a week?), so please don't stop popping in to visit me here & there!

Till then....have a great one!

Back soon!

Keri

P.S. You can still reach me here, on facebook, or Etsy. I will check my mail! :)

A Walk in the Park

So many pictures, so little time! This one is from a series of photos that were shot this spring at a nearby park. It is one of many taken on the same day as "Gazebo in Springtime' that I still have to work my way through!

I thought of calling it "serendipity......something or other", as it was certainly a happy accident! I hadn't realized that I had changed the setting on the camera I was using at the time and instead of shooting in full color, I had a mostly gray image with touches of the bright pink flowers, which I loved! For some strange reason, I seem to have an unusual affinity for pink lately, so this was a pleasant surprise. This is a preliminary peek at the first of several "pink pretties", which will soon be available on Etsy upon final tweaking & approval of moi!

What Beatrix Potter Knew

We've all read the books, seen the movies....cute little bunny running around the garden and away from Mr. McGregor. A day in the life of Peter Rabbit.

Whether bunnies, kittens, or ducks, etc., Beatrix Potter wrote & sketched her way through book after book, charming us all with her wonderful little stories & cute little drawings of furry creatures.

I now know what Beatrix Potter knew...It is one thing to read about it in a book, or see it in a movie, but common though they are, these little creatures truly are amazing. I now understand how she could sit and watch them for hours, sketching their every move, and making up little stories to go along with her drawings.

Having said that, here is the little bunny that visits our garden every day....

He has kindly decided that the green grass surrounding the garden is quite tasty too, so we are both quite happy about that.

Amazingly, he doesn't seem to mind company at all....even up close. He is a little camera shy though. It is not always easy to get his picture.

Even though I am not a "bunny" kind of artist....(I paint the sea!), I just might have to sketch him one of these days. Then I will really understand what Beatrix Potter knew.

Vintage Find!

Today's post is admittedly quite late! I usually post much earlier, but today I did something I rarely have the time to do. I went treasure hunting at a local flea market. Not much time for such things, but when I do get a chance, well, you just NEVER know what you will find, even if you weren't really looking for anything at all.

So, even though I wasn't looking for anything in particular or even really planning on bringing anything home, here is what I found!

It may not look like much to you, but I could picture beautiful little cookies or yummy cupcakes on this beautiful vintage pedestal cake plate. Was it the summery white with an iridescent shimmer? (LOVE anything iridescent or sparkly! :), the brushed gold on the edges? (likely), the rosettes and petals strewn about at the top? (almost definitely!) Whatever it was, I couldn't resist this dreamy vintage cake plate on a pedestal, and I can't wait to fill it up with yummies!

Hope your Saturday was fun too! :)

Beautiful Clematis

Another day in the garden....another gorgeous flower. Clematis. Love the star shaped flowers and beautiful stamens in the center that gracefully reach for the sun!

                  Have a beautiful day!

This Old House

While I am not a huge fan of all things old & vintagey, I do love beach house, shabby, and cottage chic decor, but to a certain point.  I don't really want rust on my indoor furniture or a superabundance of peeling paint everywhere, though I appreciate that some do, and that is fine if that is what you like!  Life would surely be boring if we all liked exactly the same things, and that was all there was available to choose from!

But, even I have to admit, there are certainly many things that have a wonderful kind of charm to them, even as they crumble.  A sense of time, a history, a glimpse into past lives and what they may have been like.....yes, I love that too.

For some reason, old whitewashed stone houses or walls catch my eye, especially if there is a garden nearby.

So, today my photo for the day is this whitewashed stone foundation with wooden & wire trellises, which are training the succulent blackberries & blueberries that will soon come in summer.
